Momoka hand weaves a textile with the impact of time passages on its surface. Her woven cloth is a fabric that can embrace notions of personal expression and lived experiences over time. Colours may be subtle, fading into surface textures, eroded in places to represent the life stories of the owner.

These series of art work is a framed handwoven textile that captures the essence of time and transformation. It features a textured interplay of denim strips, arranged in an intricate grid-like structure. The fabric's surface showcases deliberate distressing, with frayed edges and eroded areas, evoking a sense of organic decay and renewal. Subtle golden accents weave through the piece, adding warmth and depth, suggesting a connection between natural processes and human memory. The contrast of deep indigo with shimmering gold creates a dynamic yet harmonious balance, drawing the viewer in to its layered narrative of resilience and beauty.

Momoka is a Japanese-born, UK-based textile artist who explores memory, time, and identity through her intricate handwoven works. Using hand-cut denim and linen, she creates textured pieces that evoke transformation and decay, celebrating the beauty of time's passage. Her techniques include bleaching, sanding, and distressing, with gold accents as a signature touch, symbolising resilience and imperfection.

Viewing weaving as a metaphor for life, Momoka’s reflective process invites viewers to connect with the themes of renewal and the ephemeral nature of time.
